Seongnam City Operates 5 Specialized Counseling Centers for Loneliness and Depression in Single-Person Households
Helping Single-Person Households Overcome Psychological Challenges and Find Stability
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 31st that it will operate five specialized counseling centers selected through a public competition from April 1st to support psychological and emotional counseling for single-person households experiencing loneliness or depression.

View original imageThe selected centers are △ Psychology Counseling Research Institute Saramgwa Saram Wirye Branch (Changkok-dong, Sujeong-gu) △ Maum Toktok Counseling Center (Imae-dong, Bundang-gu) △ Cha Psychology Counseling Center (Yatap-dong, Bundang-gu) △ Pie Psychology Counseling Center (Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu) △ Embrace Mind Psychology Counseling Center (Gumi-dong, Bundang-gu).
These counseling centers can be used by applying as Seongnam City's single-person household healing spaces.
The eligible users are single-person households aged 19 to 64 who reside in Seongnam City or attend school or work in the area.
Individual counseling sessions can be received up to 12 times until the end of the year.
Up to 8 individual counseling sessions are supported by Seongnam City, covering the cost (40,000 to 60,000 KRW per session), allowing free counseling.
For the remaining 9 to 12 sessions, users must pay 10% of the cost (4,000 to 6,000 KRW) out of pocket.
If a group of about 6 to 8 people facing similar issues wishes to receive group counseling, up to 4 free sessions will be supported until the end of the year.
The city will invest a budget of 40 million KRW until the end of the year to promote this psychological and emotional counseling support project for single-person households.
A city official said, "This project is being promoted to help single-person households living alone overcome psychological difficulties and find stability," adding, "Currently, intern counselors from CHA University of Science and Technology are conducting basic counseling at the single-person household healing space (100 Dunchon-daero, Jungwon-gu, 4th floor), and we will strengthen the support system by linking this to specialized counseling."
Last year, the city conducted psychological and emotional counseling for single-person households through contracts with five specialized counseling centers, with 101 people receiving a total of 698 counseling sessions.

The number of single-person households in the Seongnam area is 131,096, accounting for 34.5% of the total 380,003 households.
