Agricultural Ecology Experience Program" from April to November for childcare and educational institutions for infants and young children, elementary schools, and local children's centers.
The program is designed to allow children to experience agriculture firsthand outside the classroom, fostering ecological sensitivity and helping them naturally learn the value and importance of agriculture.
The experience program will be held a total of 60 times over eight months at the Agricultural Theme Garden within the Agricultural Technology Center. It will be operated as a customized agricultural experience reflecting the characteristics of each season.
In April, which marks the beginning of spring, the "Farmer's Secret Weapon Made by My Hands, Seed Bomb!" program will be held. A seed bomb is a small ball made by kneading soil and seeds together, allowing children to make their own seed bombs and scatter them in nature, experiencing how agriculture contributes to ecosystem restoration.
In May, children will make natural mosquito repellents using tomatoes; in June, natural glass cleaners using potatoes; and in October, natural scrubbers using loofah gourds. Various ecological experiences using seasonal agricultural products are planned throughout the year.
The program aims to teach children how to protect nature and the environment through agriculture and to put these lessons into practice in their daily lives. Although regular registration for this experience program has been successfully completed, applications will still be accepted on a rolling basis depending on the needs of each institution. Applications can be made through the Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center website under "Facility Guide - Agricultural Theme Garden." Participation is free of charge.
Kim Sira, Director of the Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Through this program, I hope children can learn that agriculture is not just a production activity, but an important process of caring for nature and protecting the environment," and added, "We will continue to operate meaningful experience programs for future generations."
