A Rural Stay-Type Complex Will Be Built in Yesan, Jangsu, and Geochang by 2027
30 Billion KRW to Be Provided Over 3 Years for Each District
By 2027, a 'Rural Stay-type Complex' combining residential facilities, farming experience gardens, and convenience facilities will be pilot-established in three locations: Yesan-gun in Chungnam, Jangsu-gun in Jeonbuk, and Geochang-gun in Gyeongnam.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 28th that it has selected three pilot project sites for the Rural Stay-type Complex.
This pilot project is a complex program that provides small-scale residential facilities for about 20 households, management facilities such as convenience spaces, farming experience gardens, and exchange programs linked with local tourism and cultural resources for rest and leisure. A total of 3 billion KRW per district (1.5 billion KRW from the central government and 1.5 billion KRW from local governments) will be supported by 2027.
An official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs explained, "Yesan-gun, selected this time, has excellent location conditions adjacent to famous tourist sites; Jangsu-gun has the advantage of being able to promote multiple linked projects simultaneously; and Geochang-gun plans to operate various rural experience programs, which was highly evaluated for its high potential to create synergy in attracting living population after the complex is established."
Earlier in January this year, the Ministry revised subordinate regulations of the Farmland Act to implement the 'Rural Stay-type Shelter' system, which allows individuals to easily install facilities through procedures such as reporting the construction of temporary buildings and registering in the farmland ledger without farmland conversion permits. As of the 14th, about 1,000 installation reports of Rural Stay-type Shelters have been filed nationwide in cities, counties, and districts.

Park Seong-woo, Director of the Rural Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, said, "The living population nationwide is about five times the registered population and contributes significantly to the local economy, making the expansion of the living population a core policy to respond to rural extinction. We hope that the stay-type complexes to be established in the three regions will serve as catalysts for attracting living population to each area, and we ask for the public’s great interest."
