Gwangju City Promotes Local Job Target Disclosure System... Creation of 14,486 Jobs
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 28th a job policy aiming to create 14,486 jobs with a target employment rate of 72.1% (for ages 15 to 64) and 204,000 employed persons through the 2025 Regional Job Target Disclosure System.
The Regional Job Disclosure System is a policy promoted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to revitalize local jobs, where local governments autonomously establish job targets and measures tailored to regional characteristics and disclose them to residents. Based on this, the city has prepared a concrete plan for regional economic revitalization and employment rate increase by 2025.
Gwangju City has been implementing stable job policies by achieving an employment rate of 71.8%, a female employment rate of 61.6%, and 203,000 employed persons in 2024. Building on this, in 2025, the city plans to take a step further by raising the employment rate to 72.1% and creating a total of 14,486 jobs.
As a detailed plan for the 2025 job policy, the city will promote a total of 263 projects in six major areas: ▲ direct job creation ▲ strengthening employment services ▲ providing vocational skill development training ▲ supporting startups ▲ establishing job infrastructure ▲ and others (including environment and welfare sectors), with a budget of 186.5 billion KRW. This project will provide customized jobs for all age groups from youth to seniors, with a particular focus on employment stability for vulnerable groups and youth.
