Ulsan Institute of Health and Environment Continues Participation in International Proficiency Testing for Food Microbiology Analysis
Securing International-Level Analytical Capabilities
Protecting Food Safety for Citizens
The Ulsan Institute of Health and Environment announced its plan to continue internationally verifying its food microbiological analysis capabilities by participating in the 2025 internationally accredited proficiency testing program (FAPAS).
The internationally accredited proficiency testing program (FAPAS) is a prestigious international program that evaluates the accuracy and reliability of tests in the fields of food (microbiology and chemistry), water, and environment.
Last year, the institute participated in this program organized by the Food and Environment Research Agency (FERA) in the United Kingdom and received a “satisfactory” evaluation for both enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli and Listeria monocytogenes, thereby gaining international recognition for its excellent analytical capabilities.
This year, the institute plans to further strengthen its analytical capabilities for major causative bacteria of food poisoning by participating in international proficiency testing for two items: Salmonella and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
The institute intends to maintain and develop its internationally standardized analytical capabilities through continuous annual participation in such programs.
