Progressive Party Secures the Single Opposition Seat on Pension Reform Committee
Joguk Innovation Party Was Considered but Left Off Final List
The composition of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Pension Reform is understood to be in its final stages. Although the opposition party quota was mentioned for the Joguk Innovation Party, it was ultimately taken by Jeon Jong-deok, a member of the Progressive Party.
According to the National Assembly on the 28th, it has been confirmed that former member Jeon from the Progressive Party has been finalized as the opposition party member of the National Assembly Pension Special Committee. A representative from Jeon's office responded "Yes" when asked if he would be joining the Pension Special Committee.
The People Power Party and the Democratic Party had previously agreed to form the 'National Assembly Pension Special Committee' as a consultative body to discuss pension reform structural reforms, composed in a ratio of 6:6:1 among the People Power Party, the Democratic Party, and opposition parties.
It is reported that Jeon holds an opposing stance on the automatic adjustment mechanism, which is expected to be one of the topics in the structural reform discussions.
Initially, Baek Seon-hee of the Joguk Innovation Party was mentioned for the opposition party quota, but it is understood that she was excluded from the final list. Regarding this, Jeong Chun-saeng, the chief deputy floor leader of the Joguk Innovation Party, expressed acceptance, saying, "It is disappointing that Representative Baek, who has worked as a welfare expert, was left out of the list, but it seems that Speaker Woo Won-sik considered the Progressive Party's quota."

Meanwhile, the People Power Party submitted the list of members for the Pension Reform Special Committee including Representative Yoon Young-seok (Chair), Representative Kim Mi-ae (Secretary), Park Soo-min, Kim Jae-seop, Woo Jae-jun, and Kim Yong-tae. The Democratic Party submitted Representative Oh Ki-hyung (Secretary), Nam In-soon, Kang Seon-woo, Kim Nam-hee, Mo Kyung-jong, and Park Hong-bae as members. This list has been confirmed. The schedule for the inauguration ceremony is undecided.
