Governor Kim Youngrok: "Lee Jaemyung's Not Guilty Verdict in Appeal is Justice Served"
On Facebook, "Victory for the People" and "Justice Served"
Applauds the Wise Judgment of the Court
Explains, "I Was Convinced of Lee Jaemyung's Innocence"
Urges the Constitutional Court to Expedite Yoon Sukyeol's Impeachment Ruling
Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, defined the not guilty verdict delivered to Lee Jaemyung in the appellate trial for violations of the Public Official Election Act on the 26th as "justice served."
On Facebook that day, Governor Kim stated, "The not guilty verdict for Lee Jaemyung is a victory for justice and the people," adding, "I applaud the wise judgment of the court together with all the people."
He continued, "I shook hands with Lee Jaemyung as he entered the courtroom and told him to stay strong," and appealed, "As a sitting governor, I went to the court because I was convinced that 'Lee Jaemyung is innocent.'"
He further remarked, "The excessive indictment by Yoon Sukyeol's politically motivated prosecutors resulted in not guilty verdicts regarding Kim Moonki and Baekhyeondong, and a complete acquittal on the charge of spreading false information under the election law," adding, "This is only natural."
Governor Kim emphasized, "Since the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport sent three official documents urging a change of use for Baekhyeondong, it is only natural that he felt pressured as mayor, and saying he was threatened does not constitute a crime," adding, "For an opposition party mayor, 'pressure' and 'threat' are essentially the same expression."
He also criticized the Constitutional Court for delaying its decision on the impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol.
Governor Kim stated, "Democratic citizens and the people are now waiting for the Constitutional Court's ruling," adding, "The only way to end martial law and rebellion is through the impeachment and removal of Yoon Sukyeol. I hope the stern judgment of the Constitutional Court, which protects and upholds the Constitution, will be delivered as soon as possible."
