Emergency Evacuation Measures for Residents of Onjeong-myeon and Hupo-ri in Adjacent Border Areas
Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province held an emergency situation assessment meeting at 7:40 PM on the 25th after a wildfire that started in Uiseong County, North Gyeongsang Province, spread to nearby areas. From 9 PM, the county activated its Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters and began emergency response measures.

View original imageOn this day, Uljin County held an emergency meeting presided over by the county governor and issued proactive orders to evacuate residents from Onjeong-myeon Jogeum 1 and 2-ri, Deokin 2 and 3-ri, Deoksan 3-ri, as well as residents and staff of Indeok Sarang Village in Hupo-myeon, which are neighboring border areas.
At the designated evacuation sites?Nonghyup Bank Baegam Training Center, Onjeong Middle School Gymnasium, and Hupo-myeon Welfare Center?temporary relief kits for evacuees, lunch boxes, food supplies (bread and beverages), and shelters were provided to ensure evacuees' comfort and support.
As of 9 AM on the 26th, most of the evacuated residents had returned home. However, considering the wildfire crisis alert remains at the 'serious' level and a strong wind advisory was issued overnight, it was decided to maintain the emergency response system.
At the emergency meeting, the county dispatched two forestry team leaders and firefighting crews to neighboring Yeongdeok County and Yeongyang County to monitor the situation and check on the spread of the wildfire. In preparation for any unforeseen circumstances, wildfire suppression crews were instructed to remain on emergency standby.
Additionally, under the responsibility of each township head, the county strengthened the wildfire monitoring system focusing on public officials and wildfire monitors, and plans to thoroughly manage the disaster response system in case of emergencies.
