Busan Port Authority and Korea Society of Ocean Engineers Sign Industry-Academia Cooperation Agreement
Mutual Cooperation to Enhance Port and Coastal Engineering Capabilities
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) and the Korean Society of Ocean Engineers (KSOE, President Heo Dongsu) have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance technological capabilities for port development and the advancement of the marine industry, thereby contributing to the development of national science, technology, and industry.

View original imageThis agreement was established to strengthen research collaboration, technology exchange, and human resource development in the port and coastal sectors, with the goal of sustainable port development and advancement of coastal engineering technologies.
BPA and KSOE plan to pursue: △ regular information exchange and support to promote cooperation among industry, academia, and research institutions; △ collaboration in technical support, consulting, joint research, and professional workforce development; and △ participation in domestic and international academic conferences and events aimed at expanding cooperation and international exchange.
BPA possesses practical experience in port operation and development, while KSOE has research capabilities in the field of ocean engineering. Through this agreement, they aim to maximize synergy and further broaden the scope of cooperation in port and coastal engineering technologies, joining forces to advance Busan Port as a global smart port.
Lee Sangkwon, Head of the Construction Division at BPA, said, "We expect this agreement to lead to practical cooperation for strengthening the smart port technology of Busan Port," adding, "Based on collaboration with KSOE, we will strive to secure global port competitiveness and lead the future marine industry."
