Promoting and Protecting Children's Rights in Iksan
On the 26th, the city of Iksan in North Jeolla Province held an inauguration ceremony for the '3rd Child-Friendly City Supporters Group' at the city hall's main conference room.
According to the city, the Supporters Group, which was first launched in 2021, was established as part of the city's child-friendly city policy to protect and promote children's rights.
The 3rd Supporters Group is composed of 20 local parents and plans to actively carry out children's rights campaigns and public relations activities for child policies in close cooperation with the city. In addition, they will gather opinions from the local community for the healthy growth of children and deliver suggestions and improvement ideas regarding child policies.
At the inauguration ceremony, following the appointment of members, training was conducted to strengthen adults' responsibilities and roles regarding children's rights. The training covered specific ways to understand and practice children's fundamental rights, including the right to participation, protection, survival, and development. Methods to prevent and address cases of children's rights violations were also shared, enhancing the capabilities of the Supporters Group.
Mayor Jung Heon-yul said, "I expect the dedication and efforts of the 3rd Supporters Group will become an important foundation for protecting children's rights," and added, "We will do our best to make Iksan a city where children's rights are respected and children are happy."
