Suwon City to Operate Autonomous Vehicles in Gwanggyo 1-dong Area
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is promoting an autonomous driving project in the Gwanggyo 1-dong area.
On the 26th, Suwon City signed a business agreement with Studio Galilee Co., Ltd. consortium at the city hall situation room and agreed to cooperate to successfully carry out the autonomous driving project.
Suwon City and the Studio Galilee Co., Ltd. consortium will actively cooperate to establish an autonomous driving support system and attract national public projects related to autonomous driving. The consortium consists of Studio Galilee Co., Ltd., Autonomous A2Z Co., Ltd., and Baida Co., Ltd.
Earlier, Suwon City held a public proposal for the autonomous driving project plan last year and selected the Studio Galilee Co., Ltd. consortium, which proposed a suitable project plan, as the project operator. In December last year, a total 6.6 km section in the Gwanggyo 1-dong area was designated as an autonomous driving pilot zone. Gwanggyo 1-dong, which has a large floating population, is an area where the supply of public transportation is somewhat insufficient compared to demand.
