Discussing Overseas Expansion Including Vietnam
The Metropolitan Transport Commission of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) is launching a joint consultative body in collaboration with seven urban railway operators nationwide. The aim is to enhance the efficiency of urban railway operations and improve technological capabilities.
On the 26th, MOLIT announced that the 'Urban Railway Operators Consultative Body' will hold its inauguration ceremony on the 27th in Sejong City. The consultative body will include major urban railway operators from across the country, such as Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju, Daejeon, and Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation.
The consultative body will be divided into three subcommittees: technology, operations, and systems. The technology subcommittee will share excellent technologies from each institution and trends in domestic and international new technologies. The operations subcommittee will discuss ways to reduce operating costs and strategies for overseas expansion, including Vietnam. The systems subcommittee will focus on discovering policy tasks aimed at system improvements and strengthening public services.
Subcommittee meetings will be held once every six months and convened as needed when urgent issues arise.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Korea Railroad Research Institute will present on the 'Train Autonomous Driving Signaling System,' the Korea Rail Network Authority will discuss 'Trends in Overseas Urban Railway Projects,' and Incheon Transit Corporation will share 'Operational Achievements of the Incheon Line 2 Unmanned Operation System.'

Kang Hee-up, Chairman of MOLIT’s Metropolitan Transport Commission, stated, "Urban railways are a core infrastructure, like the feet of citizens, used by an average of 8.5 million people daily. Through the introduction of new technologies and the expansion of overseas cooperation, MOLIT’s Metropolitan Transport Commission will take a leading role in establishing sustainable development strategies for urban railways."
