Guro-gu to Reopen Anyangcheon Hwangtotgil Trail on April 1 After Renovation
Additional Loess Laid, Acupressure Bricks Installed at Entrance, and Dedicated Loess Maintenance Machine Introduced
Guro-gu announced that it will officially resume the operation of the Hwangtotgil (Loess Road) from April 1st this year, coinciding with the full bloom of cherry blossoms.
Since October 2023, the district has been operating three Hwangtotgil paths along the Anyangcheon Stream: one near Sinjeonggyo Bridge and two near Gocheokgyo Bridge.
Among these, the Hwangtotgil near Gocheokgyo Bridge is located under a cherry blossom tunnel, making it an ideal spot to enjoy barefoot walking while soaking in the spring atmosphere.
Last winter, the district temporarily suspended the operation of the Hwangtotgil to prevent safety accidents and completed improvements and facility enhancements based on residents' requests.
First, to ensure sufficient supply of loess soil, the height of the boundary stones around the Hwangtotgil was raised, and more loess was laid. The loess particles were filtered through a fine sieve to 2㎜ or smaller, filled with high-quality loess free from heavy metal contamination, improving both quantity and quality.
At the entrance of the Hwangtotgil, loess bricks with acupressure bumps were installed to allow natural foot acupressure while using the path.
Additionally, a dedicated loess maintenance machine was introduced to strengthen the upkeep of the Hwangtotgil. The path will undergo a 60-minute maintenance session once a day, with regular tilling to manage moisture levels and contamination. A fixed manager will be assigned to remove fallen leaves and hazardous materials around the path, ensuring maximum prevention of safety accidents.
Furthermore, starting this year, if the precipitation probability is 60% or higher, the Hwangtotgil will be covered with waterproof sheets in advance to minimize loess erosion.
