Jinan County Launches Intensive Collection Campaign for Paper Packs and Used Batteries
Campaign Runs Until the 31st
"Promoting Resource Recycling"
Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk will conduct a "Paper Carton and Used Battery Intensive Collection Campaign" until the 31st.
According to the county on the 25th, this campaign has been organized to increase the recovery rate of recyclable resources and to promote the recycling of waste materials. The county is actively pursuing environmentally friendly projects to create an eco-friendly and healthy city.
Paper cartons (such as milk cartons, soy milk cartons, beverage cartons, etc.) are made from high-quality pulp and can be 100% recycled into toilet paper. If mixed with regular paper, recycling becomes difficult, so separate disposal is essential.
Used batteries, if disposed of in standard waste bags, pose an explosion risk during incineration and can cause environmental pollution due to hazardous substances. However, if properly separated, metals from used batteries can be extracted and recycled.
To encourage active participation from residents and promote resource recycling, the county is running a program to exchange paper cartons and used batteries for eco-friendly toilet paper.
Paper cartons should be emptied, rinsed with clean water, and dried. Used batteries should be cleared of foreign substances and collected in a certain amount before being brought to the town or township administrative welfare center, where they can be exchanged for eco-friendly toilet paper.
Paper cartons can be exchanged for one roll of toilet paper for every 20 sheets of 200ml, 20 sheets of 500ml, or 10 sheets of 1,000ml cartons. Used batteries can be exchanged for one roll of toilet paper per 200g.
The county plans to promote proper separation and collection methods for paper cartons and used batteries, focusing on apartment complexes, institutions, and organizations, and to encourage active participation from residents. Through intensive collection activities in each town and township, resource recycling will be further promoted.
A county official stated, "We hope that through this intensive collection campaign, residents will voluntarily practice recycling paper cartons and used batteries, raising awareness of environmental protection and resource recycling," and added, "We will continue to promote and support the proper separation and disposal of recyclables so that it becomes a part of daily life."
