Daejeon Office of Education to Launch Full-Scale School Arts Education Environment Modernization Project
Establishment of Yedream Halls and Improvement of Arts Classroom Environments
Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education has announced the full-scale implementation of the '2025 School Arts Education Environment Advancement Project.'
The project aims to innovate student-centered school arts education spaces by establishing Yedream (Ye-Dream) Halls, improving the environments of arts classrooms (music and art rooms), and providing financial support for purchasing equipment and teaching aids.
The Yedream Hall is a space designed to nurture and share artistic dreams, serving not only as a venue for arts curriculum classes but also for performances, exhibitions, club activities, and various cultural and arts education activities. A total budget of approximately 1.9 billion KRW will be allocated differentially to five selected schools for design, facility construction, and user-participatory design.
Outdated music and art rooms will be remodeled or newly established to improve the environment of arts classrooms. A total of 15 schools?six elementary, six middle, and three high schools?have been selected, each receiving a budget of 15 million KRW. These spaces will be used not only for arts curriculum classes but also for after-school activities and student-led arts experiences such as free semester programs.
To strengthen arts education, financial support will also be provided for the purchase of equipment and teaching aids for schools with Yedream Halls and arts classrooms. A total budget of 50 million KRW will be distributed among 16 schools for purchasing essential equipment and teaching aids for arts activities, such as sound systems, musical instruments, and display stands.
Kim Heejung, Director of Physical Education, Arts, and Health at the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "Through this project, we will improve the school arts education environment and provide students with creative and diverse opportunities for arts experiences."
