Shinhyeop Foundation Selects 62 Scholarship Students in First Half of the Year... 53.5 Million Won Sponsored
A Total of 1,256 Students Supported Over 7 Years, with 1.15 Billion KRW in Scholarships
New Regional Talent Scholarship Project Launched
On the 25th, the Shinhan Social Contribution Foundation announced that it selected 62 university students as scholarship recipients for the first half of this year on the 20th and sponsored scholarships totaling 53.5 million KRW. Since 2019, the Shinhan Foundation has supported a cumulative total of 1.15148 billion KRW in scholarships to 1,256 students over seven years.
This scholarship was awarded through recommendations from workplace Shinhan cooperatives and regional Shinhan cooperatives affiliated with universities nationwide. The Shinhan Foundation selected 57 university students from low-income families, single-parent households, and youth preparing for independence, who face challenging educational conditions, and provided scholarships totaling 46 million KRW. As part of a new scholarship project to nurture local talent, an additional five university students from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions were selected and awarded scholarships totaling 7.5 million KRW. The Shinhan Foundation’s “Scholarship Support Project for Underprivileged Groups” operates every year in both the first and second halves.
Starting this year, a region-based scholarship project is also being newly promoted. In December 2023, the Shinhan Foundation signed a social contribution business agreement with the Gwangju Jeonnam Shinhan Development Fund and received a donation of 100 million KRW. The donation fund was voluntarily raised by employees of Shinhan cooperatives in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions as a social contribution resource to promote regional development and fulfill Shinhan’s social responsibility.
The five university students from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions who received scholarships this time are the first scholarship recipients selected through this region-based scholarship project.
