Spring Felt at Your Toes... Dongdaemun-gu Baebongsan Hwangtotgil and Others Resume Operation
Operation of Eight Hwangto Trails Resumes After Winter Closure
Convenience Facilities Inspected... Creating a Pleasant Environment for Barefoot Walking
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that the operation of eight local Hwangto (loess) trails, which were closed during the winter season, has resumed from March 17.
Currently, the district operates a total of eight Hwangto trails: ▲ Baebongsan Neighborhood Park (355m) ▲ Jangan Neighborhood Park (120m) ▲ Dapsimni 1 Park (130m) ▲ Dapsimni 2 Park (110m) ▲ Gandeme Park (160m) ▲ Cheonjangsan Forest Trail (140m) ▲ Jungnangcheon Jangan-dong Hwangto Trail (900m) ▲ Jungnangcheon Imun-dong Hwangto Trail (350m).
The Baebongsan Hwangto Trail is popular as a walking course shaded by trees, making it cool to use even in summer, while the Jungnangcheon Jangan-dong Hwangto Trail offers a variety of barefoot walking experiences with alternating dry and moist sections, receiving high praise from users.
The district uses 100% premium pure Hwangto to maintain the quality of the trails. During the winter, they replenished the lost Hwangto and carefully inspected it by hand to check for contamination.
In addition, the district completed pre-inspections of auxiliary facilities such as foot washing stations, rest decks, safety railings, handrails, and nighttime lighting to enhance convenience and safety for visitors.
After reopening, management staff will be stationed at all times, and operations such as tilling, watering, and Hwangto replenishment will continue to maintain a pleasant environment.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “With the arrival of warm spring days, we will do our best to manage the Hwangto trails so that residents visiting can relieve stress and become healthier.”
