Promoting a Culture of Safety
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kwon Oseong) announced on the 24th that it will conduct a free inspection and safety campaign for motorized water leisure equipment at North Port Pier 3 in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 11th of next month.

In response, Mokpo Maritime Police, in cooperation with Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority (KOMSA) and professional inspection companies, will provide free equipment inspections, educate on how to respond to engine failures, and conduct a safety campaign promoting essential safety rules and the use of the SOS button during leisure activities. Free inspections can be booked in advance until the 9th of next month, and those who make reservations will receive designated safety items as gifts.
A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, "Water leisure equipment often experiences drifting accidents due to engine failure at sea, which can lead to secondary major accidents such as capsizing or grounding. Therefore, equipment inspection is crucial. For safe and enjoyable leisure activities, we urge everyone to inspect motorized water leisure equipment that has not been operated for a long period during winter in advance and to thoroughly familiarize themselves with safety rules."
