'Daum News' Adds 49 New Regional Media Partners
The Second Round Will Evaluate Economic Media Outlets
Announcement Scheduled for April
Forty-nine media outlets will newly join Daum News, the portal operated by Daum. This is the first case through the new media onboarding process created by Kakao, replacing the News Partnership Evaluation Committee (Je-pyeong-wi).
Kakao's Content CIC announced on the 24th that, as a result of accepting new media onboarding applications for the 'local' category from five regions last December, a total of 78 outlets applied, and 49 media outlets will be newly onboarded. After completing the application of the news supply system, these media outlets will start supplying local news to Daum News from early April.
Kakao explained that since the evaluation criteria were based on the production ratio of ‘original articles’ independently produced by the media outlets and ‘specialized articles’ in the applied category, media outlets producing high-quality, locally focused articles have been onboarded. Lim Gwang-wook, Kakao Media Performance Leader, said, “It is significant that we have greatly expanded differentiated local news that can only be seen on the portal Daum.”
