"Is a 5th Grade Internal Score Advantageous for Special-Purpose High Schools?" Online High School Credit System Briefing Held on the 26th
Online Briefing on High School Credit System for Parents
Clarifying Credit Completion Criteria, Student Record Entries, and More
An online briefing session for parents regarding the 'High School Credit System,' which will be fully implemented starting this March, will be held.
The Ministry of Education announced on the 24th that the 'High School Credit System Online Briefing' will be live-streamed on the YouTube Education TV channel on the 26th.
The High School Credit System is a system where students select and complete necessary subjects according to their career paths and aptitudes, earn credits, and graduate. After an eight-year preparation period since the plan was announced in 2018, it has been fully applied to all first-year high school students nationwide starting this year.
In this online briefing session for parents, Ministry of Education officials will directly explain the overview of the High School Credit System (subject selection, course registration, etc.), new evaluations within high schools and student record entries, credit completion criteria, and guidance to ensure minimum achievement levels. The session will be conducted in a format that answers questions submitted in advance as well as real-time chat inquiries.
The Ministry of Education accepted pre-submitted questions from parents from the 17th to the 25th of this month. As of the 23rd, a total of 2,025 parents participated, with 62.2% of the questions related to the overall High School Credit System. Major pre-submitted questions included 'possibility of changing courses, graduation eligibility if 192 credits are not completed, and advantages or disadvantages for autonomous private high schools and specialized high schools under the 5-grade internal evaluation system.'
The Ministry of Education plans to alleviate parents' concerns about the new system by communicating directly with them through various methods, including this briefing session and future combined online and offline sessions.
