View original imageLG Uplus has launched the industry's first 'self-activation' service for foreigners in the MVNO sector. This service is designed to allow foreign customers to independently complete the entire process online, from comparing plans to activation, without speaking to a consultant.
Offered through LG Uplus's official MVNO online mall 'Al-dot (Alttulphone.com)', the service provides guidance in five languages: Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Russian, and English. It is a customized service considering the countries of origin of foreigners with a high residency rate in Korea.
Previously, foreigners had to visit offline stores or speak with consultants to activate an MVNO phone, which caused significant inconvenience due to language barriers. LG Uplus addressed this issue by creating a dedicated self-activation page for foreigners on Al-dot.
Additionally, a curation feature was developed to help foreign customers easily find plans that match their usage patterns. Through this, customers can receive recommendations for suitable plans and check promotional information. A self-activation service for minors was also newly introduced. By logging in with a parent account and verifying the legal guardian relationship, minors can activate an MVNO phone easily without submitting separate documents. LG Uplus is also considering adding a feature to automatically translate the entire Al-dot page into foreign languages in the future.
