Kwon Seong-dong: "Lee Jae-myung, Attend Your Own Trial Diligently First"
"The Opposition Has No Right to Demand Promptness in All Trials"
Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, urged on the 23rd, "Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung should sincerely attend to his own trial instead of rushing the Constitutional Court."
He specifically pointed out, "The Democratic Party has no right to demand promptness not only in the impeachment trial but in all trials."
Regarding the Democratic Party's submission of the impeachment motion against Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok on the 21st, he criticized, "They had been holding back out of fear of public backlash, but as the verdict on Lee's election law violation (on the 26th) approached, they suddenly pushed the impeachment motion."
He added, "Because Lee's guilt is certain, they submitted the impeachment motion filled with madness beforehand to seize the media's attention," and said, "It is an attempt to cover up the party leader's crimes with collective madness, a typical madman strategy."
He continued, "If unfavorable rulings come out in Lee's second trial and (President Yoon Seok-yeol's) impeachment trial, this is a buildup process to launch a judicial rejection movement."
Regarding the upcoming ruling on Prime Minister Han Duck-soo's impeachment trial on the 24th, Floor Leader Kwon stated, "The Constitutional Court must make a clear judgment on whether the quorum for the impeachment motion by the acting president is 151 seats or 200 seats," emphasizing, "If this issue is avoided, it would be granting an unlimited impeachment license to the major opposition party."
