Previously, he served as CEO from 2012 to 2016, during which he improved Kyobo Book Centre's management situation and led growth and change through initiatives such as the renewal of the Gwanghwamun branch. He introduced the country's first e-book subscription service, ‘sam’, and achieved the highest profit performance in Kyobo Book Centre's history during his tenure.
In light of increasing management risks in the publishing industry, such as the bankruptcy of wholesale companies, the decision to reappoint an experienced leader who has delivered management results is interpreted as a strategy to overcome uncertainty. Heo stated that he plans to strengthen the core competitiveness of both online and offline channels and pursue various growth strategies to build a new future for Kyobo Book Centre.
