Gyeonggi-do Provides 1 Million Won Compensation Per Person to About 5,900 Pocheon Residents Affected by Friendly Fire
Gyeonggi Province will provide the ‘Gyeonggi Province Daily Recovery Support Fund’ to the residents of Idong-myeon, Pocheon, who were declared a special disaster area due to the fighter jet accidental bombing incident, to ensure swift accident recovery and a return to daily life. This comes just one week after Governor Kim Dong-yeon promised to consider providing the daily recovery support fund and disaster consolation money.
On the 20th, Gyeonggi Province announced that from the 1st to the 15th of next month, it will provide 1 million KRW per resident to approximately 5,900 affected residents as the daily recovery support fund.
The daily recovery support fund will be paid using the Gyeonggi Province disaster relief fund. To facilitate smooth payment of the support fund, Gyeonggi Province plans to allocate 5.9 billion KRW from the disaster relief fund to Pocheon City after deliberation by the Gyeonggi Province Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
Earlier, on the 13th, Governor Kim Dong-yeon comforted the affected residents at the Nogok-ri village hall and promised to provide the daily recovery support fund, disaster consolation money for hospitalized patients, and emergency disaster relief repair costs.
Residents wishing to receive the Gyeonggi Province Daily Recovery Support Fund can apply together with the Pocheon City disaster basic income at four locations: Jangam-ri Small Library in Idong-myeon, Doridol Cultural Exchange Center in Dopyeong-ri, Yeongok 1-ri Village Hall, and Nogok 1-ri Village Hall.
The payment target includes all residents of Idong-myeon, as well as Gyeonggi Province residents who suffered physical or economic damage from the March 6 Air Force accidental bombing incident. The head of the affected household or household members can submit an application form, ID, and a copy of their bankbook, and payment is expected within one week after reviewing the application.
Disaster consolation money will be paid starting from the 21st, with 3.74 million KRW for seriously injured hospitalized patients and 1.87 million KRW for those with minor injuries. Emergency disaster relief repair costs of 93 million KRW were paid on the 14th.
