The main topics include ▲Understanding of nuclear power and radiation ▲Gijang-gun's radiation emergency response system ▲Resident action guidelines in case of a radiation emergency.
Gijang-gun conducted a survey on educational demand at 37 schools in December last year. As a result, this year, education will be provided to about 6,400 students, an increase of approximately 2,000 compared to last year.
In addition to the annual "Visiting Radiation Emergency Preparedness Classroom," Gijang-gun also implements the "Visiting Radiation Emergency Preparedness Village Education." In particular, the county is strengthening publicity by operating radiation emergency response booths at various local festivals and events.
Mayor Jung Jongbok stated, "In Gijang-gun, not only is there the Kori Nuclear Power Plant, but also the Gijang Research Reactor and the Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Research Center, so residents have a high level of interest in nuclear power and radiation safety." He added, "We will further enhance the quality of education by discovering and producing a variety of radiation emergency preparedness educational content to increase residents' interest and understanding, thereby strengthening their ability to respond in emergencies through proper understanding of radiation and the internalization of disaster safety awareness in daily life."
