The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee began reviewing the 'Kim Geon-hee Permanent Special Prosecutor Act' and the 'Customs Narcotics Investigation Suspicion Fact-Finding Special Prosecutor Act' on the 19th.

View original imageOn the morning of the same day, the Legislation and Judiciary Committee held the 1st Subcommittee on Bill Examination to submit and process the 'Special Prosecutor Investigation Request for Fact-Finding on the Kim Geon-hee Stock Manipulation Case, etc.' and the 'Special Prosecutor Investigation Request for Fact-Finding on the Incheon Customs Narcotics Investigation Pressure Suspicion Case, etc.'
At 2 p.m. that day, the full Legislation and Judiciary Committee meeting will handle about 20 bills, including the two special prosecutor bills approved by the subcommittee. These bills are expected to be submitted to the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 20th.
Park Beom-gye, the opposition party secretary of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, told reporters in a phone call, "It is expected that both special prosecutor bills will pass at the full committee meeting today."
On the other hand, Yoo Sang-beom, the ruling party secretary of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee from the People Power Party, said to the press at the National Assembly, "In the past, it was a principle and practice to approve bills by consensus in the subcommittee," and argued, "Both permanent special prosecutors are being sufficiently investigated by the prosecution, and there is no basis for the related suspicions."
During the full committee meeting of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee that day, a 'current issue inquiry' related to the investigation and release of President Yoon Seok-yeol will also be conducted.
Attending the current issue inquiry are Choi Jae-hae, Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection; Cheon Dae-yeop, Chief of the Court Administration Office; Kim Seok-woo, Acting Minister of Justice; Oh Dong-woon, Chief of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Department; and Lee Wan-gyu, Chief of the Legislation Office.
