Gumi City, First in the Province to Provide 'Food Waste Reducers' to Households with Multiple Children
Gumi City Launches Food Waste Reducer Support
for Families with Multiple Children
First Program of Its Kind in North Gyeongsang Province
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province has introduced a new support policy to address low birth rates and improve the child-rearing environment.
For the first time in the province, the city is implementing a program to distribute household food waste reducers to families with multiple children, aiming to reduce the burden of food waste disposal and strengthen economic support.
The core of this project is to distribute 166 units with a total budget of 50 million KRW.
Eligible recipients are families who, as of the 17th, are registered residents of Gumi City and have given birth to or adopted two or more children.
However, at least one child must be under the age of 19, and support is limited to one unit per household, covering 50% of the purchase cost of the reducer, up to a maximum of 300,000 KRW.
Applications will be accepted starting from the 24th, and only products with official certifications such as K Mark, Q Mark, Environmental Label, or Group Standard are eligible. Devices that discharge waste directly into the sewage system, like kitchen waste disposers, are excluded.
The application period runs from the 24th to April 4th, and recipients will be selected based on factors such as the number of household members on the resident registration, the number of children under 19, and the continuous period of residence in Gumi City up to the announcement date.
Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "We expect a lot of interest and participation from citizens in this policy aimed at addressing the low birth rate and improving the child-rearing environment."
