Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 19th that it will expand regional customer communities on its mobile app.

View original imageThe Shinsegae Department Store app community was launched in January last year and currently has about 200,000 active members. By clicking 'Play' at the bottom right of the Shinsegae Department Store app, users can access the community and find hobby communities such as 'Cham Jal Meogeosseoyo' (I Ate Well) related to food and beverages, 'Cham Jal Jilleosseoyo' (I Spent Well) related to shopping, as well as store-specific community spaces like 'Sinsa Club (South City)' and 'Sinnam Club (Hanam Branch)'. Customers share their individual hobbies and reviews in these spaces and continue active offline activities.
Most customers participating in the app community are loyal department store customers. As of this year, customers active in the app community spent more than five times as much at the department store compared to non-members. The average spending per customer in the app community exceeded 2.5 million KRW, while non-members remained in the 500,000 KRW range.
Among VIPs, customers who joined the community also visited the department store more frequently. Among VIP customers with Emerald grade or higher, 96% visited Shinsegae Department Store this year. This contrasts with 87% of VIP customers who are not members of the community.
It appears that the various shopping information and benefits shared in the community have acted as incentives for store visits.
Accordingly, Shinsegae Department Store is expanding communication spaces by store, such as 'Sinsa Club (South City)' and 'Sinnam Club (Hanam Branch)', in addition to the existing communities. Following the launch of the 'Gimhae Pick Club', a community for the Gimhae area store last month, the 'Seulgiroun Uijeongbu Saenghwal' (Wise Uijeongbu Life) community for the Uijeongbu area was newly introduced this month. The Gimhae Pick Club surpassed 10,000 members within a week of opening and reached 20,000 members after one month. Seulgiroun Uijeongbu Saenghwal also gathered 15,000 members within four days of its launch.
Customers using store communities can enjoy benefits such as shopping discount coupons and academy usage vouchers specific to each store. A representative example is the 'Monthly Benefits' of the South City Sinsa Club. The monthly benefits include movie theater and food and beverage discount coupons, as well as a 7% discount coupon for fashion brands.

In the future, Shinsegae Department Store plans to expand the community to large stores as well. Lee Seonghwan, Executive Director of Shinsegae Department Store, stated, "Based on the mobile app community, we are now able to provide customers with more information and benefits," adding, "We will strive to expand communities to cover more diverse tastes and regions and prepare exclusive benefits and events to offer practical advantages to our customers."
