Kim Dong-yeon: "Yoon's Impeachment Will Be Unanimously Accepted... Not the Time to Talk About Participating in Presidential Primary"
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon predicted that the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol would be unanimously accepted by the Constitutional Court. He also stated that if an early presidential election is held after the impeachment, he would discuss whether to participate in the primary at that time.
Governor Kim appeared on MBC's News Outside on the 18th and said, "From the beginning until now, I am 100% certain that the impeachment of President Yoon will be accepted unanimously with an 8-0 vote."
However, regarding the delay in the Constitutional Court's decision, he speculated, "I guess the justices are taking some time to reach a unanimous verdict because they want to achieve consensus. I think they are also mindful of the divided public opinion and are taking time to reach a unanimous conclusion on the impeachment acceptance."
He added, "I believe that only a swift acceptance of the impeachment can eliminate the current political uncertainty and quickly revive the economy."
Regarding his participation in the primary if an early election is held, Governor Kim said, "I will talk about the primary after the impeachment is accepted. At this point, it is important for the Democratic Party and the pro-democracy forces to unite and show the people's voice until the impeachment is accepted, so it is not appropriate to discuss things like participating in the primary now," avoiding a direct answer.
Regarding the one-person picketing, Governor Kim responded to an ultra-right-wing YouTuber's accusation against him by saying, "If they accuse me, I am willing to undergo investigation 10 or 100 times. However, I have already reviewed in advance whether there is any legal violation before conducting the one-person protest."
About the incident on the 10th at Suwon Station, where a beer can was thrown during his one-person protest, he said, "It seemed like the person had been drinking a little. Although I was not hit by the beer can, I am not bothered by it. Even if a beer bottle were thrown, I intend to steadfastly raise my voice because a swift acceptance of the impeachment is necessary to set the Republic of Korea right."
Regarding the Democratic Party's tent protest, Governor Kim said, "The Democratic Party started a tent protest for the first time in 12 years, and I think it is necessary. Because the cancellation of Yoon Seok-yeol's detention has occurred, and only a swift acceptance of the impeachment can save the country, end martial law and rebellion, and create a new Republic of Korea. I think this urgent sentiment is not a past-style street protest but rather a desperate show of solidarity among democratic forces or a form of light solidarity after the last martial law."

Regarding the current People Power Party, Governor Kim criticized, "I am deeply worried that the rebellion forces are trapped in the ultra-right-wing YouTube algorithm and are crossing the line, becoming a pro-martial law party. I think the People Power Party is now operating under a dual leadership system of Yoon Seok-yeol and the mercenary shepherds (Jeon Gwang-hoon and Son Hyun-bo), and it seems to be heading down a very wrong path."
