Hwang Unha: "Yoon Must Issue Acceptance Message... Is There Intent to Dissolve Party if Impeachment Is Upheld?"
Hwang Unha, floor leader of the Joguk Innovation Party, stated that President Yoon Seok-yeol should issue a message accepting the impeachment ruling.
On the 18th, through KBS1 Radio's 'Jeonggyeok Sisa,' Floor Leader Hwang said, "(President Yoon) should show acceptance of the result," adding, "For national unity and political and economic stability, he should show the demeanor befitting a former president, but judging by his behavior so far, it is difficult to expect that." He continued, "Although he was temporarily released, the trial is still ongoing. The series of actions he is currently taking are ultimately aimed at creating a favorable position in the trial," and added, "If the Constitutional Court upholds the impeachment, it will include content such as 'the martial law was unconstitutional and illegal,' and he will not admit it because it could be interpreted as a confession in the criminal trial for treason."

He added, "The illegal declaration of martial law was made in front of the entire nation watching. Because democracy and the economy have greatly regressed, the entire nation has become victims. The question of 'will you accept it?' should be directed at Yoon Seok-yeol and the People Power Party, not at the opposition party or the people who are victims."
Regarding the People Power Party, he criticized, "If the impeachment is upheld, how will the People Power Party bear civil and criminal responsibility for deliberately not attending the resolution to lift martial law on the day it was declared and for continuously condoning and supporting the declaration of martial law and acts of rebellion afterward?" He added, "I want to ask if they intend to dissolve the party as a party that supports rebellion."

On the reason for the delay in the impeachment ruling against President Yoon, he said, "Currently, there is an eight-member system, so more than six votes in favor are required, but there is a possibility that two members will dissent," adding, "Because the national division is severe, I think the Constitutional Court justices are trying to gather opinions on the issues as much as possible and move toward a unanimous decision." He further said, "If even a little controversy arises from the Constitutional Court's decision document, it could cause extreme confusion," and added, "It seems that time is being taken in the process of writing a highly conclusive decision document."
