View original imageCity Route 1 is a road that circulates around the outskirts of Unjeong New Town. Although construction began in December 2016, the project has been ongoing for nearly 10 years due to issues such as the relocation of military units, soft ground treatment, and relocation of obstacles. The delay in road construction has increased traffic inconvenience for residents of Unjeong New Town and local businesses using the road.
In response, Paju City, together with the Paju Regional Headquarters of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), formed an integrated consultative body with related organizations to efficiently advance the relocation of major obstacles such as power lines, communication lines, and gas pipelines. They have held three meetings since September 2024.
The city is working to prevent additional construction delays caused by failure to relocate obstacles by mediating between the client, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and each facility management agency. Through active meetings, they verify the implementation of matters discussed in previous meetings and plan to continuously manage issues requiring further consultation.
Additionally, to reduce traffic inconvenience for citizens, the city plans to identify sections that can be opened first among the entire route and temporarily open some sections that can be completed by the end of this year.
