Busan Office of Education Holds Training on 'Gonggongjaejeonghwan Sujedo' to Eradicate Fraudulent Payments
Over 300 Public Officials and Related Personnel Attend
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education announced on the 17th that it held a 'Public Finance Recovery System Training' at the auditorium of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education Research Information Center on the 14th.
This training was organized to enhance the soundness and transparency of public finance management. More than 300 participants, including public officials in charge of related duties and accounting staff from private schools, attended the event, which featured a special lecturer from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
During the training, Kim Eungtae, Director of the Deliberation and Protection Bureau at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, explained the purpose of the law's enactment and its key contents, and gave a lecture on the public finance recovery system and measures to eradicate fraudulent claims, focusing on vulnerable cases of fraudulent claims in the education sector.
The public finance recovery system has been in effect since January 2020. It is a system that prohibits fraudulent claims related to public finance and recovers and manages any profits gained through such claims.
To this end, the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education has made various efforts, including ▲ conducting special audits on local subsidies ▲ developing its own accounting program for calculating penalty surcharges and interest ▲ operating intensive reporting periods ▲ conducting internal compliance inspections ▲ and promoting the system to the general public.
As a result, last year, the amount of recovered funds and penalty surcharges increased about sixfold compared to the previous year, and the office received excellent evaluations, including achieving a Grade 2 in the public institution integrity assessment hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission for two consecutive years.
