"Enhancing Safety Through Citizen Participation"
Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station announced on the 17th that it is operating a year-round reporting reward system to eradicate illegal activities related to fire safety facilities. Such illegal acts include neglecting to repair broken fire pumps, blocking or closing fire safety facilities, damaging the function of fire doors, and closing hallways, staircases, or entrances.
Reports can be made by visiting the local fire station, or by mail or fax. After the report, an on-site inspection and review are conducted, and a reward is given. The reward for the first report is 50,000 KRW, and recipients can choose between cash, Onnuri gift certificates, or Gwangju local currency (Sangsaeng Card). The maximum reward is limited to 200,000 KRW per month and 2,000,000 KRW per year.
Bukbu Fire Station urged citizens to report voluntarily. Lim Jintaek, Head of the Fire Prevention and Safety Division, said, "Fire safety facilities are directly linked to lives," requesting active interest from the public.
