Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) conducted a safety inspection on the 13th by visiting areas at risk of landslides in preparation for the thawing season.

This was to identify and prevent potential safety accidents that may occur as the ground frozen during winter begins to thaw.

On this day, the inspection team, consisting of Mayor Oh Eon-seok, the Director of the Parks and Leisure Division, the Director of the Disaster Safety Division, and district heads, carefully examined the ground subsidence and damage to erosion control facilities at 288-3 Dobong-dong.

They also visited 6-7 San, Dobong-dong, where erosion control projects are planned, to check the progress of the construction. The erosion control project at 6-7 San, Dobong-dong, was commissioned this month and is expected to be completed by June. Facilities such as slope protection and floor protection erosion control structures, as well as drainage facilities, will be installed.

Due to the recent dry weather increasing the risk of forest fires, inspections for forest fire prevention were also conducted. They visited 353 Dobong-dong to check forest fire suppression equipment and conducted forest fire suppression training together with the accompanying volunteer disaster prevention group and residents of Dobong 1-dong.

The district has installed and operates forest fire suppression equipment storage boxes containing backpack pumps, shovels, fire extinguishers, and more at 11 locations within the area, including Ssangmun Neighborhood Park and Choansan Indoor Badminton Court. These are kept open at all times so that residents who discover initial fires can extinguish them directly.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “Spring is a dry and warm season, making forest fire prevention and facility safety management important,” and added, “We will do our best to manage safety to prevent loss of life and property during this period.”

This thawing season safety inspection was conducted as part of the “Safety Watchdog, Mayor’s Safety Patrol” initiative. This project involves the mayor personally leading on-site safety inspections to identify risk factors and promptly resolve them.

Prior to this inspection, fire prevention and thawing season safety inspections were conducted at the Dobong-dong Indoor Sports Center and two large-scale new construction sites in the area.
