Earlier, after the Democratic Party's Supreme Council meeting, spokesperson Hwang Jeong-a said in a back briefing, "We received a tip that many lawmakers recently smuggled Russian pistols with plans to assassinate the leader," adding, "The party is considering requesting personal protection for the leader's security." The tip request is expected to be made as early as that day.
According to Representative Hwang, multiple lawmakers received a message stating, "This is a tip from a former military intelligence officer," saying, "HID and 707 agents are smuggling Russian pistols with plans to assassinate the leader."
At the end of the tip message, there was also a request, "We would appreciate it if the leader could avoid exposure for the time being."
