Hongseong County Implements Energy Efficiency Improvement Project for Low-Income Households
Support for 38 Households with Cooling Devices
and 105 Households with Heating Devices
Hongseong County in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 12th that it will actively promote an energy efficiency improvement project (cooling and heating support) for low-income households to enhance the welfare of energy-vulnerable groups.
According to the county, this year’s energy efficiency improvement project will provide support for 38 households with cooling devices and 105 households with heating devices, targeting recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program, the second-lowest income group, and low-income households in welfare blind spots recommended by the local government head.
Once selected as a beneficiary, the full cost of installing wall-mounted air conditioners, wall insulation, window replacement, and replacement of outdated boilers will be covered by national funding.
Applications for cooling device support will be accepted until April 18, and for heating device support until the budget is exhausted. Residents wishing to apply can visit their local township administrative welfare center.
However, households living in public institution-owned housing under Article 8 of the Housing Benefit Act, residents of unauthorized housing, households deemed unsuitable for installation, and those who have not yet completed the benefit period for the same project (8 years for cooling, 2 years for heating) will be excluded from support.
Park Seongrae, head of the county’s Welfare Policy Division, said, “We will spare no effort to realize various welfare measures by reducing energy costs and improving residential environments to address energy poverty among low-income groups caused by recent climate change.”
