Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Chung-woo) announced on the 12th that on the 11th, it awarded the Hwarang Military Merit Medal to the family of a war hero who dedicated himself to the nation during the Korean War (6·25 War) and passed away.

View original imageThis award ceremony was held to find and present the military merit medal to a deserving individual who was designated as a recipient during the Korean War but had not received the medal. The Hwarang Military Merit Medal and certificate were presented to the family of the late Korean War veteran Yoon Seok-won. The medal had been lost in the chaos of the war and was only recently awarded after the Ministry of National Defense’s 6·25 Military Merit Medal Recovery Investigation Team conducted inquiries and investigations to locate the family.
The bereaved family expressed deep emotion upon receiving the military merit medal and conveyed their profound gratitude for the posthumous awarding of the medal to the deceased.
