On the 12th, KT announced the launch of the new 'K-Data Insight Platform,' which precisely analyzes and estimates regional population flows and characteristics by utilizing telecommunications big data and artificial intelligence (AI) analysis technology.

The K-Data Insight Platform is an advancement of the 'Living Population Analysis Solution' from the 'KT BigSight' platform that KT has been operating since 2017. Previously, only cross-sectional data analysis of areas where people are active was possible. This new platform comprehensively analyzes, using AI technology, people's living locations by time zone, movement purposes, and the means of transportation used during travel.

The K-Data Insight Platform offers a total of four types of data services. These include 'Living Mobility Data,' which analyzes movement purposes and transportation means by departure and arrival points; 'Living Population,' which analyzes the population present in a specific time and area; 'Floating Population,' which analyzes population movement volumes allowing overlaps in specific times and areas; and 'Staying Population,' which analyzes populations that have stayed for a certain period within city, county, or district units.

Additionally, this platform features excellent precision and flexibility through 'providing detailed spatial data at 50m cell units,' 'responsive grids' (flexible changes of 50m, 250m, 500m, and 1km according to map scale), spatial information visualization analysis based on Geographic Information System (GIS), time-series analysis and real-time dynamic change analysis, and the ability to compare up to four regions.

Recognizing the excellence of such data technology, KT participated in the private data joint purchase project hosted by Gyeonggi Provincial Government on the 27th of last month. Through this project, KT provides core services including living mobility data, the four types of living, floating, and staying population data, and the Living Mobility Analysis Solution (PLIP). Eleven cities and counties?Suwon, Yongin, Hwaseong, Ansan, Anyang, Siheung, Gwangmyeong, Gwacheon, Icheon, Hanam, and Pocheon?under Gyeonggi Province will use this service to improve urban space and transportation infrastructure and to detect and respond early to areas experiencing population decline.

Kim Young-geol, Executive Director of KT Service Product Headquarters, said, “The renewed K-Data Insight Platform is an important milestone accelerating data-driven administrative strategies,” adding, “Going forward, KT will strengthen AI agent integration to more effectively support policy and strategy formulation in transportation, safety, environment, housing, and tourism sectors, as well as contribute to optimizing marketing strategies and commercial area analysis for private companies.”
