Evacuation Chaos as Fire Breaks Out at Gwangju Apartment at Dawn... 4 Injured
There was a commotion as residents evacuated after a fire broke out in an apartment in Gwangju early in the morning.
At around 12:27 a.m. on the 12th, a fire started in a unit on the first floor of an 18-story apartment building in Seo-gu, Gwangju.
The fire was extinguished in 13 minutes by responding firefighters. Three residents living in the affected unit sustained moderate to minor injuries, and a woman in her 40s was transported to the hospital after inhaling smoke.
As flames and smoke rose, 58 residents living in the same building evacuated, and 57 of them were assisted out by the fire authorities.
The fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
