Hyundai Glovis is promoting digital transformation (DX) centered on software technologies such as simulation algorithms, robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital twins (virtual models), providing smart logistics solutions tailored to customers' logistics environments. To this end, it acquired a 70% stake in the logistics automation software company Altiole in 2023.
It has identified six key industries for smart logistics solutions: distribution, consumer goods, secondary batteries, automobiles, bio, and petrochemicals, and is increasing orders targeting related companies.
According to market research firm Interact Analysis, the global logistics automation market is expected to grow to $106.4 billion (approximately 147 trillion KRW) by 2030. Hyundai Glovis plans to expand its smart logistics solution business in global markets such as Southeast Asia and the Americas by utilizing logistics hubs worldwide.
At the Hyundai Glovis booth, visitors can also see a demonstration of the logistics robot "Stretch" developed by Boston Dynamics. Stretch is equipped with an arm capable of carrying boxes weighing about 23 kg at an average rate of 600 per hour, and it has an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) mounted underneath for mobility. This is the first time a Stretch demonstration has been unveiled in an Asian country. Hyundai Glovis is conducting technical verification of Stretch at its research institute 'G-LAB' and plans to deploy it in logistics sites in the future.
