A cafe in China has launched a new product featuring coffee with grasshoppers and bamboo worms.
According to multiple Chinese media outlets including Guangming Network, on the 10th, a cafe in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, recently introduced grasshopper latte and bamboo worm Americano.
Guangming Network reported, "The staff put a few insects into the cup and poured coffee," adding, "There are many online reactions questioning who would drink such coffee."
Mr. Qian, who visited the cafe, told China Zimu News in an interview, "Grasshoppers and bamboo worms are snacks eaten with alcohol, so there is no aversion," and described the coffee taste as "very unique. Worth trying."
According to the report, the cafe has been open for over two years and offers coffee made using local specialties.

Mr. Xu, who runs the cafe, introduced, "Grasshoppers and bamboo worms are common side dishes for our local residents." He also explained that the insects are thoroughly washed and fried before being added to the coffee. The prices are about 68 yuan (approximately 13,600 KRW), 78 yuan (approximately 15,600 KRW), and 88 yuan (approximately 17,600 KRW).
