Baek Young-hyun, mayor of Pocheon City, announced on the 9th that he welcomes the prompt designation of Idong-myeon, Pocheon City, the area affected by the fighter jet bomb accident, as a special disaster zone.

View original imagePocheon City reviewed the proposal to declare a special disaster zone on the day of the accident and subsequently requested the declaration through Gyeonggi Province on the 7th.
As a result, on the 8th, Idong-myeon, Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province was declared a special disaster zone. The area is now eligible for support under the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety, including aid for natural disaster relief and recovery costs, as well as support for disaster relief and recovery efforts.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun said, “Now, it is possible to promote damage recovery and resident support at the government level. I welcome the government's prompt declaration of a special disaster zone to ensure the swift return of affected residents to their daily lives.”
He added, “Along with government support, Pocheon City is preparing its own support measures and is discussing plans to provide emergency living stabilization funds using its own resources.”
In addition, the city proactively allocated contingency funds for urgent repairs of minor facility damages, and the Ministry of National Defense has promised to replenish the funds later.
