Korea University announced that since starting the 1,000 Won Breakfast program in 2023, the number of users has been increasing. According to Korea University, 120,000 people used the program in 2023, and 170,000 people used it last year.
This growth is thanks to Korea University removing the previous limit of 600 diners, expanding the locations to include dormitory cafeterias, and enlarging the program every year. The Korea University Student Support Team collects requests through a student monitoring group. Through this, last year they introduced convenient meal options such as cup rice and triangular kimbap in addition to regular meals. Korea University plans to remodel the student union building to provide a more comfortable student cafeteria.
