‘Ieoka’ is a transport cart specially researched and developed for the elderly by Green Hospital. The name combines ‘ieo’ from ‘to connect’ and ‘car’ from ‘rear car,’ symbolizing a transport cart that connects the local community and the elderly.
The event was attended by about 50 people, including Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi, Green Hospital Director Lim Sang-hyuk, related officials, and local residents, who gathered to support a healthy working environment for the elderly.
This project was promoted in collaboration with Green Hospital. The district office surveyed the actual conditions of elderly waste paper collectors in the area in cooperation with community service centers and related organizations, selecting support recipients. Green Hospital developed an ergonomically designed transport cart and provided health checkups and medical care for the elderly.
Compared to existing transport carts, the ‘Ieoka’ reduces weight by 54% to minimize physical burden and features adjustable handle heights to fit the body types of elderly users.
Additionally, its bright yellow design is expected to help prevent traffic accidents. At the handover ceremony, a total of 23 ‘Ieoka’ units were delivered to elderly resource recyclers, who personally checked and shared their joy over the carts.
