Bucheon City Expands Citizen Safety Insurance Coverage... Up to 20 Million KRW Payout
Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 5th that it will expand the coverage of the Citizen Safety Insurance starting this month.
The Citizen Safety Insurance, for which the city fully covers the premium, provides up to 20 million KRW in insurance benefits in case of injury or death due to natural disasters or social disasters. Until last year, the coverage amount for death caused by natural or social disasters was 15 million KRW, but it has increased by 5 million KRW starting this year.
Insurance benefits are also payable in cases of death or permanent disability caused by explosions, fires, or collapses. Additionally, treatment costs are covered if a person dies while using public transportation or is injured in a traffic accident occurring in a school zone (child protection zone).
If treated in an emergency room due to a dog bite incident, up to 300,000 KRW will be supported, and the maximum coverage amount for other categories is 15 million KRW.
Citizens registered as residents in Bucheon City (including foreigners) are automatically enrolled in this insurance without any separate procedures, and the insurance period is from the 1st of this month until February 28th of next year. Insurance claims must be filed within three years from the date of the accident. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Korea Local Finance Association.
