Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital Selected for New Basic Research Project
Total Research Funding of Approximately 1.8 Billion KRW Provided
Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital announced on the 5th that two projects have been selected for the government's newly launched "2025 Basic Research Project."
This project is supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and is being implemented to strengthen basic research and enhance future scientific and technological capabilities.
The hospital was selected for one project each in the categories of Mid-Career Research (Leap Type) and Global Cooperation.
In the Leap Type category, Professor Choi Hwanjun from the Department of Plastic Surgery was selected. Professor Choi will receive approximately 600 million KRW over three years for his research on "Development of a Customized Hydrogel-Based Drug Delivery System and Clinical Mechanism for the Treatment of Intractable Clinical Patient Wounds."
In the Global Cooperation category, Professor Lee Eunyoung from the Department of Nephrology was selected. Professor Lee will receive approximately 1.2 billion KRW over five years for her research on "Identification of New Targets through Elucidation of the Role of Glomerular and Tubular Specific NADPH Oxidase in Intractable Kidney Diseases."
Hospital Director Lee Moonsu said, "The hospital is achieving various outcomes in both basic and clinical research fields by utilizing excellent medical staff and research infrastructure," and added, "We will spare no effort to ensure that these projects lead to research results that provide practical help for patient treatment."
