Human Rights Commission to Reconsider Agenda on 'Establishment of Byeon Hee-su Foundation' on the 6th
Confidential Discussion Scheduled for the 6th
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) has decided to reconsider the agenda for establishing the 'Byeon Hee-soo Foundation,' which supports transgender individuals.
The NHRCK announced on the 4th that it will hold the 6th Standing Committee meeting on the morning of the 6th to resubmit the 'Approval of Non-Profit Corporation Establishment' agenda for confidential discussion.
The NHRCK had discussed the agenda confidentially at the Standing Committee meeting on the 20th of last month but failed to reach a conclusion and decided to resubmit it later.
Earlier, the Military Human Rights Center and others launched the Byeon Hee-soo Foundation Preparatory Committee in February last year and submitted the application documents for approval of the non-profit corporation establishment to the NHRCK in May of the same year.

According to internal regulations, the NHRCK must approve or reject the application within 20 days unless there are special reasons after receiving the application for corporation establishment approval. However, no conclusion has been reached regarding this agenda even after 10 months since the application was received.
