Recruiting 1,000 Participants
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 4th that they will recruit 1,000 participants for the small-town travel event 'Yeohaeng-euro-Cul' until the 13th.
'Yeohaeng-euro-Cul' is a representative event of the national domestic tourism revitalization campaign 'Travel Month.' Participants pay a fee of 25,000 KRW per person to enjoy a one-day travel program that includes transportation, lunch and dinner, and local experience programs at the travel destination. This year, the event will depart from 10 regions nationwide and will be held four times in total on the 28th (Fri), 29th (Sat) of this month, and the 4th (Fri), 5th (Sat) of next month.
Last year’s 'Yeogiro (Travel Month, Train Travel, Local Travel)' attracted about 4,700 participants from the metropolitan area and received great responses. This year, the program is designed to allow participants to take buses across adjacent metropolitan areas nationwide and discover hidden gem small towns.
Anyone can participate, and selection is made through a 100% lottery. Each person can apply only once, and up to four people including the applicant and companions can apply. Infants under 36 months can participate for free.
Detailed information such as travel schedules and application methods can be found on the official website of 'Travel Month.' The final participants will be announced on March 18, and individual guidance will be provided to the participants.
This trip is composed of five themes: breweries, spring flowers, celebrities, gourmet food, and healing. The brewery theme, where participants can experience Korean alcohol culture, includes four regions: ▲Ganghwa, Incheon (Geumpung Brewery) ▲Dangjin, Chungnam (Sinpyeong Brewery) ▲Seocheon, Chungnam (Samhwa Brewery) ▲Haenam, Jeonnam (Haechang Brewery), where various traditional liquors can be tasted and unique local charms experienced.
Additionally, spring flower-themed travel courses are prepared to fully enjoy spring blossoms at Hwaeomsa Temple in Gurye, Jeonnam; Seonunsa Temple in Gochang, Jeonbuk; and Deokcheon Seowon in Geochang, Gyeongnam. Each region will also offer various experience programs such as strawberry picking at Gurye Healing Farm and making flagship species rice cakes at Ungok Wetland in Gochang.
Moreover, diverse travel experiences have been thoughtfully prepared, including the 'Celebrity Theme' that can only be experienced locally, the 'Gourmet Theme' featuring seasonal spring foods, and the 'Healing Theme' for healing the body and mind away from busy daily life.
