According to Daedeok-gu on the 4th, Kim Sun-ja (78), a basic livelihood security recipient living in Seokbong-dong, announced that she donated 5 million won, saying, "It is a small amount and I am embarrassed, but please use it for neighbors in need." Kim defected from North Korea around the age of 20 and got married in China, but shortly after, she lost her husband. She then lived with her three daughters for 30 years before coming to Korea in her late 50s and has been living as a basic livelihood security recipient.
It is known that Kim has been collecting recyclables and receiving basic living allowances. She said, "I was able to live until now with help from the country," and added, "I want to express my gratitude to the Republic of Korea." Along with this, she said, "With the intention of helping neighbors in our area, I gathered donations from the living allowance and money earned from collecting recyclables," and added, "Please use it for those who are more in need than me."
