Yonsei University, Professor Emeritus Baek Young-seo Awarded the 31st Yongjae Academic Award
Yonsei University announced on the 1st that Baek Young-seo, Honorary Professor at Yonsei University, has been selected as the recipient of the 31st 'Yongjae Academic Award.'
The Yongjae Academic Award was established in 1995 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Baek Nak-jun, also known as Yongjae, who served as Minister of Education and President of Yonsei University. The award is given annually to scholars who have made outstanding research achievements in Korean studies and related fields.
Yonsei University explained that Professor Baek has continuously conducted research that critically reexamines Western-centric perspectives and nation-state-centered historical narratives, while practicing a vision of peace and coexistence in East Asia.

A Yonsei University official stated, "Professor Baek's research is expected to serve as an important milestone in overcoming the conflicts and divisions faced by East Asia and in seeking paths toward peace and coexistence."
